AR 15 Parts
Upper Receivers come in many different weights, lengths, and calibers. Usually upper receivers are very interchangeable, and one can easily be swapped out for another. However, sometimes you will have to change lower receivers as well if you are installing an upper that is a different caliber. Uppers can be purchased online and mail-ordered in most locations. Head here for a more in-depth look at Uppers and to see the many we have available.
The lower receiver is only part of the firearm that requires a FFL when ordering online. It is the section that is serialized and typically contains the trigger and firing mechanism. Although this is the most regulated part of the firearm, it is still very easy to purchase online. All you need to do is have the site you are purchasing it from, send the part to your local gun shop, which is where the background check is done. Most online firearm websites are very familiar with this process and make it as easy as possible for you to do this effortlessly. There is typically a small fee (around $30) that your gun shop will charge to do the background check – but it is definitely worth it, as parts can be found much cheaper online!
Barrels are not always included with the upper receiver (unless you are purchasing a complete upper receiver), so we have tons of barrels you can buy independently here. We also break down the differences in them and what you need to know before buying. There are many different variations you can choose from, and even some that get you into much more regulated waters very quickly – find out more here.
Although usually an afterthought for most first-time builders, magazines are one of the most important pieces to the firearm. The differences between “bang” and “click” could be the difference between life and death – so it’s important to not overlook this. Spend the extra few bucks and get a high quality one, you’ll be happy you did.
Purchasing a kit is one of the smartest ways to go for most novice builders. This way you can be certain all of the pieces are there (and fit!) and just get to building your baby. Keeping track of every little pin and spring can get extremely daunting if you’re not careful. If you’re looking for the easier route, but still want to experience the thrill of the build – check out our kits.
Bolt Carrier Group
Many malfunctions can be blamed solely on the Bolt Carrier Group, so it is important to understand this piece of the firearm. It is made up of the bolt carrier, bolt (complete), cam pin, firing pin, and the firing pin retaining pin. Some diehards go as far as buying each of these pieces separately, we definitely recommend against it. You’ll save yourself a lot of headaches just purchasing a high quality bolt carrier group.
AR 15 Accessories
Putting that scope on your AR 15 can be one of the best feelings you experience – mainly because it means your build is complete! Although this is more of a “nice to have” addition than it is a true necessity. In any case, getting a great scope can increase your accurate range exponentially and just plain old make your gun look awesome!
Whether you are looking for a collapsible, adjustable, or fixed stock for your firearm – we have what you’re looking for here. Check out the key differences and some of the highest rated ones available today.
For extra comfort and grip while shooting, get yourself some great handguards. There are many different sizes, designs, colors, and materials to choose from when it comes to selecting a handguard – so make sure you know what you’re looking for before getting information overload!
If you think a scope would be overkill on your rifle, go with a great sight. Although most don’t help much with accuary at long range, these will surely increase your accuracy in short-medium range and especially when aiming at a moving target! Check out our many options here.
